After the unexpected drama of Georgia’s stitches, we figured a quiet day might be in order but she had other ideas. No pain, no fuss, just full on enthusiasm. So we decided to make the most of it and head out for a proper family adventure: Vinpearl Safari.
And what a day it turned out to be.
We set off early under the blazing Phú Quốc sun, loaded with snacks, sun cream, and a healthy dose of optimism. Georgia was bouncing with energy, and even Dotty was in good spirits, chatting along in the taxi as we cruised toward the safari.
Vinpearl Safari is Vietnam’s largest wildlife conservation park, and it genuinely impressed us. The place is huge over 400 hectares of lush greenery, open enclosures, and a solid mix of walk-through zones and safari style drive through areas. We started with the sun safari ride, hopping aboard the enclosed bus that took us through the open habitats.
Zebras trotted alongside the windows, giraffes strutted across the road, and even the lions lounged just metres away. The girls were wide eyed, glued to the windows the entire ride. Georgia kept calling out animal names, and Dotty alternated between roaring and clapping with excitement (until she realised the rhino wasn’t going to wave back).
After the safari ride, we strolled around the walking section of the park. There were flamingos, elephants, and even a chance to hand feed giraffes which Georgia absolutely loved. Dotty was more interested in the shaded spots, but honestly, everyone found something to enjoy.
The only hiccup? Dotty tripped while running away from the bird sanctuary and took a little tumble on the path. She scraped her knee, had a bit of a cry, and was ok after some tlc.
We took plenty of breaks, found shady spots to cool down, and even managed to grab lunch inside the park surprisingly decent food, by theme park standards, it was included in the price of the entrance fee.
By late afternoon, we were all fading a bit. Georgia still had energy to spare (as always), but we could tell she was ready to chill. We grabbed a final look at the elephants which she fed and made our way back to the entrance.
The taxi ride home was silent two tired kids in the back, one tired mum, and a dad quietly proud we’d pulled off such a full on day with only one bandaged knee and zero meltdowns.
Final verdict?
Vinpearl Safari was epic. Well organised, clean, animal welfare seemed solid, and the layout made it easy to explore with kids. Would we recommend it? Absolutely. Just bring water, hats, sunblock, and maybe a first aid kit. You know, just in case your toddler decides to wrestle the pavement.
