Family. Chaos. Adventure.
The family behind the chaos

We really did step away from normal life to see the world

This site is the real version of family travel: the wins, the wobblies, the long drives, the late check-ins, the snacks, the temples, the beaches — and the little moments that make the hard bits worth it.

From the book — The Road Was the Plan

Every single hotel. Every Airbnb, every guesthouse, every lodge, every campervan and bungalow and beach hut we stayed in across twenty-four countries — she bounced on the bed. Every time. Without exception. The world kept presenting her with new beds and she kept greeting every single one of them like it was the greatest thing she had ever seen.

The trip happened because of Ali. I had the idea. She built everything else.

Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

— Ferris Bueller

We stopped. We looked around. We did not miss it.

About Tantrumming Trailblazers

Family. Chaos. Adventure.

We are Dennis, Ali, Georgia and Dotty, a family who stepped away from the sensible path to see more of the world together. We share the real version of family travel: the magic, the meltdowns, the tiny wins, the big lessons and the beautiful chaos in between.

Our story

We did not wait for perfect. We packed anyway.

Tantrumming Trailblazers began as a way to document our family adventure, but it has become more than a travel diary. It is where we share what actually helps when travelling with children: the routes, the rest days, the packing lessons, the accessibility thoughts, the budget choices, and the moments that make the effort worth it.

🧭

Why we started

We wanted more than the usual routine. More time together, more stories, more discovery, and more chances for our children to see the world while they still look at everything with wonder. So we chose the adventure, even knowing it would be messy.

We are not chasing perfect travel. We are chasing meaningful moments while our children are young enough to see the world with magic still switched on.
🎒

What travel really looks like

Some days are ancient cities, mountain views, beach discoveries and food we still talk about. Other days are airport snacks, wrong turns, tired kids, late check-ins and wondering why nobody packed the one cable everyone suddenly needs. Both versions are real. Both versions count.

Meet the crew

Four travellers. One rolling circus.

Every family has its own rhythm. Ours is part planning, part improvising, part snack diplomacy, and part accepting that the best memories usually arrive without permission.

🧢

Dennis

Dad, planner, driver, tech fixer, route tinkerer and occasional over-packer of gadgets. Usually trying to turn travel chaos into a system before the system gets covered in crisps.

☀️

Ali

The calm in the chaos, adventure partner and expert at keeping the whole show moving. Good at spotting what actually matters while everyone else is distracted by logistics.

🌟

Georgia

Curious, bright and always ready to turn a normal day into a proper adventure. She brings imagination, questions and the kind of excitement that makes ordinary places feel bigger.

💛

Dotty

Fearless, funny and full of personality. She reminds us that progress can look different, plans can bend, and adventure can still be incredible when it moves at its own pace.

Extra layers

We travel with more thought. Not less adventure.

Our family travel includes extra planning around health, development, accessibility, medication, rest days, transport and accommodation. That does not stop the journey. It just means we build trips around the family we actually have, not some glossy brochure version of family life.

What we care about

We want this site to be useful for real families. Not just families with matching luggage and suspiciously clean children, but families who need practical ideas, honest expectations and permission to travel in a way that works for them.

  • Honest destination stories, including the good bits and the hard bits.
  • Practical family travel tips that come from actually doing it.
  • Accessible travel thoughts, rest-day logic and realistic planning advice.
  • Road trip ideas, route tools and ways to find better stops along the way.
  • Useful packing, transport, food, budget and travel-day lessons.
  • No fake perfection, no glossy nonsense, and no pretending children do not occasionally go feral.

Real family life

The magic, the meltdowns, the snacks, the tiny wins, the emotional moments, and the weird little stories that become family folklore.

Privacy note: we share honestly, but carefully. Some parts of family life are personal, so we focus on useful lessons, lived experience and practical travel support rather than turning every private detail into content.

Come along for the ride.

If you have ever thought about travelling more with kids, pressing pause on normal life, or making bigger memories while the window is open, you are in the right place. Follow the stories, use the tools and join us as we figure it out one country, one meltdown and one magical moment at a time.

Built from real family travel, honest lessons, snack negotiations and the belief that adventure does not need to be perfect to be worth it.
