Dad, planner, driver and gadget over-packer
Usually found solving travel logistics, building tools, hunting for better stops and pretending the plan was always meant to change.
We are Dennis, Ali, Georgia and Dotty. A travelling family chasing real memories, useful stories and the occasional clean toilet.
We stepped away from the safe, sensible path to see the world together while the girls are young enough to feel the magic of it. This site is the real version of family travel: the wins, the wobblies, the long drives, the late check-ins, the snacks, the temples, the beaches and the little moments that make the hard bits worth it.
It started as a travel diary, but it has become a place for honest stories, practical guides and hard-earned tips for families who want to explore more, even when life is messy, unpredictable or not built for glossy brochures.
Usually found solving travel logistics, building tools, hunting for better stops and pretending the plan was always meant to change.
Adventure partner, chaos manager and the person most likely to keep the whole show moving when the wheels wobble.
Turns normal days into proper adventures and reminds us to notice the little bits of magic along the way.
Travels with extra planning layers, but also shows us that progress can look different and still be incredible.
We chose to go because the window was open. With children, health layers, school, work and life constantly moving, there is rarely a perfect moment to do something big. So we built the plan, packed the bags and gave the girls a chapter full of places, people, textures, sounds and memories.
This is not about perfect travel. It is about meaningful travel. The sort where everyone learns, adapts, occasionally loses the plot, then finds something brilliant around the next corner.
Our travels are shaped by our family’s needs. Dotty has epilepsy and developmental delay, so planning matters. We think about healthcare, medication, accessibility, rest days, transport, accommodation and how each place will work for our children, not just how good it looks in photos.
That does not mean the adventure stops. It means we travel with more flexibility, more preparation and a healthy respect for the power of snacks, laundry and a quiet afternoon.
