Our final day in Vietnam turned out to be a full on adventure part action movie, part transport farce, part soft play paradise.
While Ali set off on a two hour bus ride to the Cu Chi area, the girls and I had one goal at Georgias request a relaxed morning of bowling. What we got instead was a Vietnamese version of The Amazing Race. Our first taxi took us two miles in the wrong direction. The second Grab dropped us 800 yards short of the entrance so we marched the last leg on foot, again.
When we finally arrived, we were told kids had to be 12 or older to bowl. What?! Try telling that to any four year old back home happily rolling a ball down a ramp with bumpers.
Meanwhile, Ali had quite the start to her day. First stop? Firing an AK-47. Yep she went full action hero, letting off rounds at the shooting range before the real mission even began.
Back on our side, we weren’t letting the bowling ban ruin things. We found a soft play right next door and let the kids loose. Slides, tunnels, ball pits Dotty and Georgia were in their element.
Later that afternoon, I managed a quick win of my own. My phone’s power button had packed up the day before, but a local shop sorted it with a new cable for just £15. Quick, easy, job done.
By now Then, Ali still pumping headed underground to explore the Cu Chi tunnels. Crawling through tight, pitch black passages that once sheltered Vietnamese fighters, she got a gritty, hands on feel for the country’s history. Covered in mud, sweat, and buzzing from the whole experience, she absolutely loved it.
With the sun starting to dip, we grabbed another ride back this time to the actual hotel and discovered a hidden gem, a soft play right underneath our accommodation. This one was next level: ride on cars, climbing tubes, dress up stations, even makeup corners. Dotty was buzzing, and Georgia was loving every minute. We all agreed we should’ve found it days ago.
Ali returned full of wild stories from rifles to tunnels, and we wrapped up our last day in Vietnam as three very tired but happy travellers each with totally different experiences, but all unforgettable.
Just like Phu Quoc, we packed out our final day to the max. Classic us so tomorrow we will be knackered while travelling!!
