Our taxi man who’s been our trusty driver, fixer, and semi-official tour guide for the past two weeks surprised us with one final adventure before we waved goodbye to Phú Quốc: a four island tour. We didn’t know what was in store, but when he picked us up and dropped us at a coach that led to a speedboat, we knew we were in for something special.
Stop 1: Sea Helmets & Beach Beauty 🪼
First stop was a space helmet diving station the kind where you wear a big bubble helmet and walk under the sea. We skipped it (not our jam) and headed straight for Island One. And what a way to kick things off.
The beach was absolutely stunning soft white sand, warm clear water, and coral you could swim right over. Shoals of fish darted around our feet, and we grabbed some fantastic photos with the island as our backdrop. Then came lunch, which was a real treat: well laid out, delicious, and plenty of it. Perfect for fuelling up for the rest of the day.
Stop 2: Stormy Skies & Sneaky Swims ⛈️
Island Two brought another gorgeous beach, and for a while, we were in the zone swimming, relaxing, loving life. Then the sky opened up. A proper tropical downpour turned the place into a monsoon scene. Dotty was not impressed (and fair enough), but Ali and Georgia still managed a splash before we all scrambled back aboard, slightly soggy but still smiling.
Stop 3: Floating with Fish 🐠
Then came Island Three, which turned out to be the highlight of the entire tour. We leapt straight off the boat into the sea, and it was like swimming inside a giant fish tank. Coral reefs below us, colourful fish everywhere striped, black, big, small, even one sneaky one that swam right past Dotty’s toes.
Dotty, kitted out in her swim vest and armbands, floated around with a huge grin on her face, soaking it all in. It was peaceful, surreal, and just magic.
Stop 4: Slides, Churros & Sky-High Exits 🎢
Our final stop was Sun World’s water park island, where we had an hour and a half to hit the slides, cruise the lazy river, and burn off the last of our energy reserves. It was a blast the perfect mix of thrills and chill.
Then came the grand finale: boarding the longest three-tower cable car in the world, soaring over the ocean and back to the mainland. The views were jaw-dropping, the ride surprisingly smooth, and the whole family just sat quietly, taking it all in.
We grabbed a coffee while waiting for our (slightly delayed) bus, and finally rolled home that evening with wet towels, sandy shoes, and big smiles.
In Hindsight…
Was it the right move for our last day?
Honestly… probably not.
It was a massive day energetic, emotional, and absolutely packed. By the time we got home, we were utterly knackered. Dotty should have been asleep before the bus left the car park, Georgia was hanging on by a thread, and we were running on equal parts adrenaline coffee and determination.
If we had our time again, we might’ve saved the island hopping for Day 12, not Day 14. A quiet beach day to wind down would’ve been ideal. But still no regrets. This wild ride gave us memories that’ll last forever.
Farewell, Phú Quốc 👋
Tomorrow, we head to Ho Chi Minh City, and our hearts are heavy leaving this special place. The beaches, the food, the people it all clicked for us. Phú Quốc gave us freedom, adventure, calm and chaos everything we hoped for in these two weeks, and more.
Would we come back?
In a heartbeat.
Just maybe with one more rest day pencilled in at the end. 😉
