Today was a bit of a travel day as we moved from our first Airbnb near Tokyo Disneyland to our new base on the other side of the city but we packed in plenty of adventure along the way!
We kicked things off with a stop at Tokyo Station, not just to admire the iconic red brick building (which looks like a typical old British rail station) but to take a stroll through the Imperial Palace East Gardens. It’s amazing to find such a peaceful, lush space right in the heart of one of the busiest cities in the world. We loved exploring the ancient stone walls and moats there was even a ninja style pretend ambush or two along the paths!
Next up: science time! Just next door is the National Museum of Science, this place is filled with interactive fun. Georgia and Dotty had fun the hands-on experiments, and the giant mechanical globe that shows real time weather and tectonic activity. Earthquake machines right around to driving simulators with motorbikes, Georgia loved the crane machine, it was huge looking like you were using a skyscraper crane you hauled balls from one side to the other.
Around 4 PM, we headed back to the station picked up our bags from Station Lockers honestly, these are an amazing. Pop your luggage in while you explore, no need to lug it around! Then it was onto two trains across Tokyo, navigating the bustling stations like pros.
We arrived at our new home in time to stretch out, settle in, and cap off the night with a delicious Indian dinner.
We’re loving how Tokyo offers something for every mood history, science, and spice, all in one go. Tomorrow, we are going back in to the city who knows what we will find?
