Today we hit Phuket’s Sunday Market and let me tell you, if there’s one thing we’ve learnt on this trip, it’s this: Sundays in Phuket are not to be missed.
We weren’t hunting for anything in particular, just looking to soak up the vibe. What we found was an absolute mix of everything. You’ve got proper handmade crafts, local artists doing their thing live, and yes the standard “Alibaba special” stalls selling glowing toys, fake Crocs, and all the tat the kids seem to love.
But there’s real talent too musicians singing in the street, some with guitars, others with backing tracks, giving it their all. We ended up having tea right by the dragon statue, listening to a local singer belting out tunes under the lights. It was one of those moments where you just stop and take it all in the lights, the buzz, the smell of grilled food drifting through the air.
There was everything from hand poured candles and local artwork to classic street food. The dumplings looked brilliant, and the Georgia was wide eyed at the dessert stands. Loads of variety, and surprisingly chilled for a night market it never felt overwhelming. Just busy enough to feel exciting, but still 100% family friendly.
🕓 Markets kick off from 4pm, and by 6pm it’s in full swing. We’d recommend going early to avoid the crowds later and wear comfy shoes because there’s a lot to explore.
We’ve done our fair share of markets lately, but this one stood out. Maybe it was the setting. Maybe it was the music. Maybe it was just the tea by the dragon statue. Whatever it was, Phuket’s Sunday Market turned out to be one of our favourite nights out so far.
If you’re around on a Sunday go. Don’t even think twice.
