As our journey in Peru enters its last few days I find myself wanting to quote from ‘Open All Hours’, “It’s been a funny old day,” for us “it’s been a funny old journey through Peru” full of unexpected twists, turns, and plenty of surprises along the way.
We’ve marvelled at the mystical beauty of Machu Picchu, captivated by ancient Incan ruins nestled within misty mountains, and been enchanted by the vivid culture and stunning landscapes of the Sacred Valley. The exhilaration of paragliding across the sand dunes, eve vibrant Lima all combined to make our experience unforgettable.
Yet… we’ve also navigated some rougher terrain, roads that felt like they’d swallow our luggage whole and traffic jams chaotic enough to test even the calmest of nerves, narrow mountain roads, land slides and detours round who knows where. The saddest part about Peru is the lack of respect local people have in Peru, rubbish everywhere because it’s ok to just dump it where you like and everything is half finished with a that will do attitude it could be so much more if people just started living rather than surviving and yes, it’s partly down to lack of money but it’s also culturally ok to be a slob, that said, these challenging moments have left us with some cracking stories to share down the road,
Looking ahead…
As I type this we start to pack our bags packed once more, we will fly back to Lima in two days staying at a place with a pool to relax before embarking on the next leg.
Next stop, Madrid!
Two leisurely days await us in this buzzing European hub, we planned a stop perfect for stretching our legs, exploring charming streets, sipping coffees in cosy cafes, and soaking up the unique European vibe. It’ll be just the recharge we need before heading onwards to Asia.
And then, it’s wheels-up to Osaka our next thrilling adventure awaits. We’ll be heading to a world-schooling hub where we’ll dive into the local culture, explore fascinating sites, and connect with other travelling families. In the words of Arkwright, “It’s amazing how quickly things can change round here.” Japan’s precision, cleanliness, and lively culture are bound to be an absolute treat. We can’t wait to tuck into the mouthwatering delights of this city known as the “Kitchen of Japan,” from fluffy pancakes to deliciously crisp takoyaki. The girls are counting down to diving into the neon-lit, vibrant arcades packed with toys and games, and we’re all excited about the chance to immerse ourselves in a fascinating blend of traditional culture and futuristic innovation.
Japan’s arcades, markets, historic temples, and culinary adventures promise endless fun and learning opportunities. We can hardly wait for the change of pace and water you can drink from a tap!
Bring on the adventure!
