Yesterday was a big one and it started early. We took the cable car up to the top of Queenstownβs Skyline and, to our surprise, the luge was closed for a short while. So, we did what any tired travellers would do we chilled out.
The girls played in the mountaintop play area while Ali and I sipped coffee, shared a slice of cake, and enjoyed a cracking pizza for lunch. Honestly, the view alone was worth the trip snow-tipped peaks rolling into the bright blue of Lake Wakatipu. Ironically, having such a slow start turned out to be the perfect way to begin a big day.

Then came the main event. Helmets on. Smiles locked in. We jumped on the ski lift to the top of the track and the adventure began.
After a quick bit of training, we were off. Georgia somehow managed to crash in the very first cornerβ¦ twice. I had to hop out mid-run to rescue her, and by that point, we were all in hysterics. Once we found our groove though, it was pure fun flying down the hill, wind in our faces, and laughter all the way. Easily one of the most fun things weβve done on this trip.

After the luge, Georgia and I ducked into the Kiwi Park while Ali took Dotty back into town. We spotted the nocturnal kiwis, cheeky keas, native falcons, and even a tuatara a living fossil from New Zealandβs prehistoric past.

We wrapped up the day with a family reunion at McDonaldβs (donβt judge). I tried a New Zealand special called the Big Arch basically a double quarter pounder with three cheeses. It was outrageousβ¦ and perfect.p
By the time we got back to the campsite, everyone was wiped but buzzing. Queenstown you nailed it.
