Housesitting A Handy Sydney Base With a Dog

Housesitting A Handy Sydney Base With a Dog

We stayed for two weeks in a TrustedHousesitters place near Warringah Mall, looking after a lovely husky.

We had used TrustedHousesitters a few times during our travels, and it became a really useful cost-saving hack. The idea is simple: homeowners go away, and sitters stay in their home to look after the pets and property. No money changes hands between the owner and sitter, but you do pay for a membership and you take on proper responsibility for the animals and home.

For us, it always worked really well.

Sydney can be expensive for family accommodation, so housesitting gave us a practical base without paying hotel or rental prices. We had more space, a kitchen, a local area to use, and a dog to look after.

The location near Warringah Mall was handy too. We could shop, get organised, visit nearby beaches, and have a bit of a breather after moving around so much.

The girls loved having the husky around, and it gave the stay a nice routine: feeding, walking, playing, and coming back to a house rather than another hotel room.

It was comfortable, practical, and exactly what we needed at that point in our trip.

For long-term family travel, TrustedHousesitters is definitely worth considering, as long as you are happy to properly care for someone’s pets and treat their home with respect it gives you free accommodation and a place to visit the site from!
