Today was Christmas shopping, part two at Westfield North Lakes. With the big Brisbane Westfield done the day before, this one felt a bit calmer and more our size.
We split into teams to make it easier.
Ali and Dotty went one way, and Georgia and I disappeared in the opposite direction. The idea was simple: pick up a few knick-knacks and small presents without the girls spotting what the other team was buying.
There’s only so much you can fit in a backpack when you’ve got a plane to Sydney on the 28th, so we tried to stick to things that were light, useful and wouldn’t explode our luggage allowance. A few books here, some crafty bits there, and the odd treat that might just qualify as “essential travel equipment” if anyone at the airline asks.
Just as we were about to call it a day, I checked the Westfield app one last time and a Santa slot had magically appeared. We grabbed it straight away and the four of us regrouped so the girls could visit Santa at Westfield, tell him their wishes and pose for photos.
What started as a practical shopping run turned into another little Christmas memory on the road.
